ION Scalebuster® applications

The ION Scalebuster® can tackle a far greater range of applications than most other water conditioners. Although the ION Scalebuster® is principally used to prevent and remove hard water scale, because of the way the ISB® Technology functions, it can be used to help solve a variety of problems.

Scale Prevention

Encrusted pipe work can be cleaned without the use of chemicals. Scale can be prevented in heat exchangers, boilers, ice making machines, humidifiers, hot water heaters, showers, domestic and commercial central heating systems, solar heating systems, pumps, etc, and the list is endless.

The large surface area of zinc encompassed within the ION Scalebuster® promotes cathodic protection for pipe work downstream. Additionally, the zinc ions released in the process break down existing corrosion leaving a neutral surface, which remains protected. A major company installed several hundred ION Scalebuster® units to prevent corrosion of non-ferrous pump bodies on their world-wide equipment. "Red water" effects in regions where water is slightly acidic can also be overcome.

Filtration

The principle effect on hard water is to precipitate greatly enlarged particles within the water stream. Suspended colloidal particles also appear to be caught up in this coagulation effect so that filtration is enhanced. Swimming pools have been shown to be much easier to maintain and keep free of algae and bacteria when ISB® Technology is applied. Staining is much also reduced. Final effluent filtration can be enhanced by ISB® Technology to prevent colloidal "bloom".

Cooling Towers

A research project undertaken over many years with an associate company in North America has demonstrated how ISB® Technology can virtually guarantee to remove the need for expensive and environmentally unfriendly chemical treatment.

To date, as we start the New Millennium, ION Scalebuster® units have been installed into water-cooling and cooling tower applications with great success.
